Natural Rough Peridot Olivine Crystals, 260g, Hand Collected Australia, Volcanic Origin
A truly unique and fascinating Australian specimen — rough olivine crystals, hand collected locally, presented as a complete 260g bundle exactly as shown in the images.
These remarkable crystals form inside what is known as an olivine volcanic bomb — ejected during volcanic eruption, the outside of each bomb is characteristically black and relatively smooth, concealing the tiny vivid green olivine crystals within. The small green crystals can be easily freed from the larger bomb and measure approximately 0.1–3mm each. When found in larger form, olivine is known as the gemstone peridot.
Sourced from the New Volcanic Province of South East Australia — a region covering 15,000 square kilometres — with Mount Shadwell being one of the most well-known olivine sources in the country.
The Geology: Olivine is one of the first minerals to crystallise as magma cools and is commonly found in the Earth's mantle. Magnesium-rich olivine crystallises from magma that is rich in magnesium and low in silica, forming mafic rocks such as gabbro and basalt.
Metaphysical Properties: Associated with the heart chakra (Anahata), olivine is said to support healing, progress and emotional wellbeing. It is known for its cleansing properties, enhancing self-confidence, reducing stress and helping to release guilt from the past. A stone of renewal, inner connection and spiritual growth.
Perfect For: UV resin projects, crystal clusters, craft and jewellery making, scatter elements, healing work and collectors.
